I currently live on the side of a mountain just outside of Nelson BC.

hmmmm, best thing "about that city" is that it's not a city.

Outside of ceramic art what other types of art/design/fashion etc are you drawn to and does it influence your work?
Art/Design and fashion: I'm pretty eclectic on this one. I really like looking at vintage vehicles, the 1959 Porche 356 is one of my favourites, old motorcycles, I have a file of images on my computer of old implements from different cultures. I find utilitarian objects fascinating, the way form follows function and how aesthetic is bound to that. I look at a lot of architecture, thinking about buildings as vessels but more importantly as a potter I take cues from the inside of these domestic spaces thinking about how the work will function in that space.
If you couldn’t be an artist next best job would be:
The next best job would be distilling whiskey...or maybe roasting coffee or brewing beer, I kinda have an obsession with beverages. Or being a designer builder....all I know is that I would be making something.
What is the most ridiculous thing I have done in the name of Art?
dedicate my life to it.

Best tip you’ve ever been given on how to be an artist:
Best tip I ever got as an artist was being critical is for after the creative process. Let it flow out of you and be intuitive, then when it's done stand back look at it and be critical.
Favorite thing to listen to in the studio:

Just start and get the creative process moving and soon you'll work through it.
