welcome to make and do!

we're so beyond excited that you've come to check us out!

make and do has been in idea kicking around for a long time, and then finally last november Carole Epp and Mariko Paterson decided enough was enough ~ let's make this happen and let the good times roll.

what are we here for? CERAMICS! what do we want? MORE CANADIAN CERAMICS!

yup that's right, it's about time that canadian clay artists started blasting they're own horns and showing the world what we're made of.

it's come to our attention in the last few years that while canadian artists have a pretty great view into what's happening in the craft sector of other countries (particularly the US), we often have a limited view as to what's going on in our own country and community of practice. plus those outside our borders often miss the amazing art that's being created here. geographical divide no more! time for us to take a peek into the studios of artists across our great country, work together, and show off what's happening in the contemporary canadian clay scene.

so join us on this new adventure, get involved, help us spread the word, and most importantly let's make and do all things wonderous and ceramic.

so how does this all work?

well make and do is at its core a group of 15 artists from across canada who are working together to promote ceramic design and art by canadian makers. the group has been brought together under the common goal of working collectively to education and create exposure on an international platform.

over the next week you'll be introduced here on the blog to each of our 14 core members. take some time and wander around, check out the profile pages on the website and perhaps even consider adding your business to our canadian ceramic directory.

what's the directory you ask? well basically the plan is that we're going to build a canada wide directory of ceramic artists. pottery, designers, sculptors, businesses, guilds, school and relevant organizations. and we want to add you!

make sure to check back often, lots of stuff is going to be happening...and in particular when the MAKE AND DO SHOP will be going live on MARCH 1st!!!

we've got a lot of ideas bubbling in our creative labs so as we test their success among our group we'll release them in the world. While patience is an overrated virtue, we promise to roll out many great things onto the Great Canadian ceramic tundra.

we'll talk more in the next while about our guest artist shop spots and how you can bump into us at NCECA this year and maybe win yourself a fine little make and do giveaway, but until then, welcome, we're so happy you're here. stay a while and enjoy the ceramics : )
